WHAT WE CHECK

The six signals that decide whether AI engines can read your site.

01

robots.txt rules

Whether crawlers like GPTBot or PerplexityBot are allowed to read your site at all.

02

llms.txt

The emerging standard for guiding AI engines directly to your key content.

03

Structured data

Schema.org markup that gives AI a clean, machine-readable summary of your business.

04

Titles & descriptions

Whether your page titles clearly state what you offer, or just say “Home”.

05

Heading structure

Whether your content is broken into headings AI can actually extract and summarize.

06

FAQ structured data

Whether your FAQ content is marked up so AI engines can read it directly as ready-made Q&A.

FAQ

Common questions about AI visibility.

An AI visibility scan checks whether AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews can access, read, and correctly understand your website. It looks at technical signals such as robots.txt rules, structured data, page titles, and heading structure.

Usually because their site gives AI clearer signals to work with — structured data, explicit FAQ content, or crawler access your site might be missing. AI tools tend to recommend businesses they can confidently understand and verify, not necessarily the best option, so a technically invisible competitor can lose out to a lesser one that’s just easier to read.

SEO is about ranking in a list of links. GEO (generative engine optimization) is about being the source an AI tool pulls from, paraphrases, or cites when generating a direct answer — there’s no list, just whether you got mentioned at all. They overlap technically, but the goal is different: showing up vs. being chosen.

It helps, but it isn’t the same thing. Solid SEO fundamentals — clean titles, fast pages, good content — genuinely carry over. But AI tools also weigh things regular SEO doesn’t prioritize as heavily, like structured data and whether crawlers are explicitly allowed in, so a well-ranked site can still be invisible to AI.

Not strictly required, but it helps a lot. FAQ content marked up with FAQPage schema is already formatted as direct question-and-answer pairs — exactly the shape AI tools are trying to extract from your site anyway. It’s one of the higher-leverage, lower-effort additions you can make.

In almost all cases, yes — if a crawler like GPTBot or PerplexityBot can’t read your site, you’re not being weighed against competitors, you’re just absent. Blocking them is sometimes done accidentally through a security plugin or hosting default, so it’s worth checking rather than assuming.

It varies — AI tools don’t re-crawl and re-index on a fixed schedule the way Google does. Some changes (like unblocking a crawler) can affect visibility on the next crawl; others take longer to be reflected as models and their retrieval systems update. There’s no guaranteed timeline, but the fixes themselves are usually quick to make.

There’s no guaranteed way to lock in a recommendation, but you improve your odds by making your business unambiguous to AI: clear structured data about what you offer and where, consistent details across your site and listings, and content that directly answers the questions people ask about your service or area.

Yes. The scan is completely free — just enter your website and email to see your score and a full breakdown of what to fix, right on the page.
